US: Assad Regime Used ‘Higher Quality of Sarin’ To Kill Civilians

As it continues to show determination to eliminate Syria’s chemical weapons, the United States of America today revealed that Assad regime has used a higher quality of sarin to kill civilians in August 21.

In her statement Samantha Power at a stakeout on Syria, US Permanent Representative to the United Nationsn Samantha Powere says Ake Sellstrom, is a Swedish expert in chemical arms noted in response to a question from Russia that the quality of the sarin was higher than that of the sarin used in Saddam Hussein’s program.

“Again, higher than the quality of that used in Saddam Hussein’s program.” -Ms. Power

She says Mr. Sellstrom also stated that the weapons obtained on the site, on the scene of the monstrous crime, were professionally made.

She narrates that the weapons bore none of the characteristics of improvised weapons.

However, Ms. Power notes that some countries did not accept on faith that the samples of blood and hair that the United States received from people affected by the August 21 attack contained sarin.

“But now Dr. Sellstrom’s samples show the same thing.” – Ms. Power

Syrian regime possesses sarin

Ms. Power says its relevant to note that the regime possesses sarin.

“And we have no evidence that the opposition possesses sarin.” – Ms. Power

Ms. Power reports that in the days before the attack, Assad’s chemical weapons experts prepared for an attack.

She cites the regime distributed gas masks to regime troops and fired rockets from a regime-controlled area into 12 neighborhoods that the regime had been trying to clear of opposition forces.

Ms. Power underlined that it defies logic to think that the opposition would have infiltrated the regime-controlled area to fire on opposition-controlled areas.

“And again, it also is worth underscoring that this is the largest chemical weapons attack in 25 years.” – Ms. Power

In addition, that is something that the Secretary General stressed and it is also largest attack since Halabja, Ms. Power said.

Syrian regime found guilty of using chemical weapons

The US revealed that through blood and hair samples that have come discovered through an appropriate chain of custody from east Damascus, from first responders, it has tested positive for signatures of sarin.

US believed that the regime ordered this attack in August 21, many know they prepared for it, many know where the rockets came from, many know where they landed.

Reports sat at least 1,300 people have been killed in a nerve gas attack on Syria’s Ghouta region in August 21.
