Israel is not perfect, nor is any country in the world. Many mistakes have been made by Idrael, and many of them were detrimental to the standing of the state.
One of the biggest mistakes was to even think of, never mind sign, the Oslo Accords. Second was that when the first Jew was blown up because of this silly agreement, Israel should have canceled it there and then, but it did not.
The Oslo accords had a time table, and each party had obligations. Israel kept all its obligations, the Arabs kept NONE.
The Oslo agreement had an expiration date, around 15 years from the signing date. When the agreement expired, after 2000 dead Israelis were buried, Israel should have abrogated that agreement and annexed all the land of Judea and Samaria. That land was legally acquired after a war of aggression by the Arabs. Israel was forced to defend itself, and won. That land belongs to Israel no matter what the Arabs claim. The Arabs do not have strong claims on this land, they only have a strong will to destroy Israel.
Long ago, Israel should have established the borders within which she can defend herself and the world can shout and yell all it wants, because security is important. They should not try to make Israel suffer any longer.
Unfortunately, Israel’s politicians did not shut their mouths. They kept on talking, and kept the “peace process” moving, while the Arabs remained in one place, and would not budge on any issue, would not make any appropriate concession and still will not recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people.
What Are They Talking About?
The question I have asked for many years, is, what exactly are they talking about in these useless “peace” talks? Is it about how to establish a terrorist state, located 5 minutes bicycle ride from the Knesset?
It seems that Israel is incapable of disconnecting from the phantom “peace talks.” The Americans keep coming back with a new plan that never goes anywhere, because they simply do not understand what is going on. It is hard for us to understand what has made a series of Israeli politicians agree to go along with successive American follies, because not a single one of them has had a positive outcome for Israel. What are they holding over the politicians to make them do these stupid things that result in releasing murderers but nothing positive for Israel?
It is past time that we tell Israel, stop doing stupid things and act wisely.
These “peace talks” are either dead or are finally dying. The Arabs killed them long ago, but no one wanted to admit it.
Why? Who knows.
But now Israel must admit that the Arab-Palestinians are in flagrant violation of at least 11 of the 15 international conventions and treaties Abbas just signed.
Israel must expose the Palestinian Authority and Abbas’ actions and declare the Oslo Accords “as dead as a door nail.” Once that is done, accepting total sovereignty over the land of Judea and Samaria will be a lot easier; it will bypass the Israeli Left who are still selling the “two state delusion.”
The timing could not be better. Prime Minister Netanyahu must finally admit that this entire fool’s errand was concocted by the Laurel and Hardy duo of Obama-Kerry simply as a way to keep Israel engaged and busy from attacking the Iranian nuclear weapons program. And Obama initiated talks with Iran as a way of keeping to his long-held belief that you can negotiate with Iran. This was Obama’s position as the naive Senator from Illinois. This folly only shackled Israel so it could not take care of Iran. Obama tied Israel in a double knot, but now both of Israel’s hands are free so there is an opportunity to do what must be done.
Netanyahu needs to summon up the courage to attack Iran while the Iranians and Obama are waffling.
Netanyahu may be Israel’s Prime Minister, but so far he as acted as Obama’s pawn, to be moved around a board game that gains nothing for Israel, but loses valuable time. There is a theory that Netanyahu is rope-a-doping Obama, but it will take a few months before we know this for sure, one way or the other.
So this note to Netanyahu ends with a suggestion to resolve his agonistes fast and leave behind a dejected John Kerry, who has been unable to carry out Obama’s pipe dream, and control Abbas. For his part, Mahmoud Abbas must be left to display himself as the liar, the Holocaust denier, the terrorist in a suit that he is.
