Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe reaffirmed commitment to work together for Middle East Process.
According to Ms. Clinton, Mr. Juppe is no stranger to Washington. She said both of them just recently met in Paris. She announced they will meet again in a few days’ time in Abu Dhabi.
“So we are very closely coordinating, and I appreciate greatly that on this very important 67th anniversary of D-Day, the Minister will visit the World War II Memorial to lay a wreath and to present the French Legion of Honor to three American veterans who fought for freedom that day.”-Ms. Clinton
Ms. Clinton said U.S. is working together with France in so many areas. She said France just successfully hosted the G8. She stressed they have also discussed their work together in Afghanistan. She expressed regret for the death of a French corporal who was taking part in a reconnaissance operation.
According to Ms. Clinton, both countries are certainly committed to working together with the Israelis and the Palestinians to reach a peaceful, mutually beneficial outcome. She said on so many areas, French leadership, from Cote d’Ivoire to the Middle East and North Africa to Afghanistan and far beyond, is absolutely essential.
