Republic of Indonesia Celebrates Its National Day

The citizens of Republic of Indonesia today celebrated their 66th anniversary of their Independence.

The World Trade Organization data cited that Indonesia was the 27th biggest exporting country in the world in 2010. The country’s main export markets are Japan, Singapore, the United States, and China. The country has also extensive natural resources, including crude oil, natural gas, tin, copper, and gold. Indonesia’s major imports include machinery and equipment, chemicals, fuels, and foodstuffs, according to Wikipedia.

US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking in Washington, DC, extended the congratulations of President Obama and the people of the United States, to the people of Republic of Indonesia on their National Day.

“Over the past decade, Indonesia has emerged as a thriving democracy and a regional and global leader. During my visit to Indonesia last month, I saw firsthand Indonesia’s commitment to the economic potential of the region and to the future of your country.” – Ms. Clinton

Ms. Clinton stressed that the United States is committed to helping you build on this potential to deliver results for both of our people.

Indonesia has a mixed economy. Both the private sector and government play significant roles. Indonesia is also the largest economy in Southeast Asia. It is a member of the G-20 major economies.
