The Sydney Morning Herald reported the leader of an Islamic group said “Westerners must leave Muslim lands if they want to safeguard themselves against terrorist attacks, says the Sydney leader of the global Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir, Wassim Doureihi.”
So Wassim Doureihi was born in Australia, but sees himself as muslim first. Well he should think about moving to an Islamic country where he can enjoy his religion and freedoms.
We don’t try and push our Western ways or freedom on muslims, inside or outside Australia. Australia is in Iraq and Afghanistan at the request of the muslim governments of those countries.
In the UK they took over towns demanding schools be segregated and they be treated with greater respect. They take advantage of the welfare state and its benefits. They do not integrate with the existing population. Doureihi wants the same things in Australia – he and his group are threatening Australia and its lifestyle. That must not be allowed to happen.
There are many muslims who left the persecution where they were born. Australia welcomes anyone who shares its open beliefs and supports Australia. Anyone who does not support Australia should not be allowed to enter and anyone already here who actively campaigns against Australia must leave.
Australia is open to almost anyone and any view, but it is time for a reassesment. Waiting until something bad happens is too late. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but there are limits. Those limits need to be acted upon. Doureihi is trying to foment dissent and violence. These groups need to be shut down quickly. Just because they are muslims is no reason to tread lightly for fear of upsetting the larger community. The larger community does not support them. Many left their countries to get away from the ideology these people are pushing.
Dourehi isn’t promoting a discussion, he is promoting terrorism. He wants to cause problems for other muslims by making Australians think he is their spokesman. He wants Australians to react against muslims, creating an us-against-them situation and expanding his cause.
Australia must stop this now before it turns into something we cannot control. Waiting too long can only bring bad things. I don’t think muslims support him, but if he succeeds in starting a backlash against muslims, he will gain supporters.
We may get a long way down the track before they realise they have been used, as the Sunnis in Iraq are now realising they have been used by the terrorists.
