The citizens Papua New Guinea today celebrated their 36th anniversary of independence.
Papua New Guinea is considered to be one of the most culturally diverse countries on Earth. It has over 850 indigenous languages. It is also one of the most rural and it one of the world’s least explored, culturally and geographically, according to Wikipedia.
US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking in Washington, DC, extended the congratulations of President Obama and the people of the United States, to the people of Papua New Guinea.
“The United States and Papua New Guinea share a strong history of partnership rooted in our commitment to democratic values and traditions. “ -Ms. Clinton
She stressed that U.S.-Papua New Guinea partnership continues to strengthen today as they work together to promote open and transparent government, mitigate the impact of global climate change, combat the spread of infectious disease, and advance the status of women.
“As you mark your independence and celebrate this special day, know that the United States joins you in the spirit of friendship and cooperation. Congratulations and best wishes for peace and prosperity in the years to come.” -Ms. Clinton
Papua New Guinea is with natural resources. The country also has a notable coffee industry and other crops include cocoa, oil palm and tea.
