Roadside Bomb Kills Puntland Officer, Two Civilians

An official of Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland and two innocent civilians have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in Galka’yo, a town about (700-kms) north of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia as witnesses confirmed the press.

Puntland soldiers with battle-wagons have reached at the spot to scrutinize the perpetrators who plotted the bomb assault. It is still not known whether the people detained for the period of the operations are connected with the blast attack.

“Insecurity has been out of control in Puntland residences, especially in Galka’yo where several assassinations occurred the past weeks,” said one of Galka’yo inhabitants.

In January 3, 2011 Ahmed Ali Salad, the governor of Somalia’s Mudug region under the semi-autonomous state of Puntland, narrowly escaped a bomb blast planted beside a road in Galka’yo.

Abdullahi Salah Shirwa, Puntland’s high court attorney, was killed at the center of the port town of Bosaso on 30th of November 2010.

Abdulhakem Ahmed Guled, former information minister of putland semi-autonomous regional administration, was injured by a roadside bomb on October 2010.

Puntland leaders suspect that Islamist extremists are responsible for plotting numerous assassinations against its officials.
