The Eurosom sports and culture organization, a body that unites Somali sporting community in all over Europe has presented its highest award of the year to Somali National Olympic committee first vice president and as well as the Somali Football Federation.

At the end of Eurosom annual meeting in Helsinki over the weekend, President of Somali Sports Press Association and member of Somali NOC executive committee Mr. Abdi Aziz Godah Barre on behalf of Somali NOC and Somali Football Federation has received the awards from Omar Dhagaweye the former secretary General of Somali Athletics federation and current active Eurosom member.

“Eurosom is very grateful to Somali NOC first vice president Duran Ahmed Farah for his great share in the implementation of last year’s Somali regional soccer tournament for peace and development” Mr. Omar Dhagaweye said. He also praised Somali Football Federation “SFF” for the successful competition for the first time in more than 22 years. “It has never happened in Somalia that 15 regions assemble at one stadium and compete in football, because as you know only 8 regions used to participate in the annual event before the fall of Somalia” he said adding that particular thanks are due to the young leaders of Somali Football Federation.

“They have done a very beautiful job which is impossible to accomplish in such chaotic country and that is why we are now presenting them the highest Eurosom award of the year” he added.

The Eurosom is a none-profit Somali Sporting organization which intended to promote Somali sporting activities in Europe and it also protects Somali youths from falling into crimes or swerving from the old age culture.
