The Somali ambassador to Kenya, Mohamed Ali Nur, has achieved the release of at least 170 Somali refugees that were imprisoned in the coastal town of Mombasa.
These people were mostly young people that were illegally entering South Africa.
In an interview with Newsblaze, the ambassador said that the young people are all free now. He urged them to register to UN before travelling in the future.
Shabelle, a local radio station in Mogadishu, reported that the Somali ambassador in Kenya made extraordinary efforts in order to achieve the release of the many Somali prisoners in Mombasa.
The ambassador also declared plans to establish a Somali consulate in the coastal town of Mombasa.
Mohamed Ali Nur ‘Americo’ is the first ambassador to free illegal refugees. He has been getting a lot of support since he secured the return of the Somali embassy building in Nairobi after 15 years.
