Mayweather Promotions-Sho Box Boxing a Big Hit

The fight card presented by Mayweather Promotions and shown on Sho box- “The Next Generation” was a big hit for boxing fans at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino last Friday. The main event, a Lightweight 10 round bout, held in “The Joint” between then undefeated Mickey Bey, [19-1,9 KO’s] from Las Vegas and John Molina [26-3, 21 KO’s] from Covina, California was a shining example of what a talented fighter like Mickey Bey can make one mistake and end up losing a fight.

Bey, clearly a stronger and faster fighter, was winning the rounds, until the 10Th when he was too aggressive and got caught with a left hook from Molina, then three more strong shots, having him hang on to Molina, the referee then stopping the fight in 1:22 of round 10.Molina, a former world title challenger is set out to get another shot at a lightweight world championship. His credits show he was the “Best Boxer” in winning the 2002-2003 California Golden Gloves, which also garnered him a California Diamond belt that year and the Blue and Gold National Championship in 2004.

The future for Mickey Bey however, is also promising. With a credit as being a member of the 2004 United States Olympic team and a 2003 US National Golden Gloves Champion, Mickey Bey’s 18 wins in his seven year stint as a professional boxer, is sure to be up for championship fights. Floyd Mayweather Sr. stated, “It’s sad that Mickey came in too fast. He would have won the fight. He just got too careless.”

The co main event, a 10 round Super Middleweight bout, had Jack Badou [15-0, 10 KO’s] from Las Vegas win a decision over Farah Ennis [22-2,12 KO’s].Jack Badou is another fighter under Floyd Mayweather, who has s strong punch and can also take a shot. Other bouts included Louis Arias, capturing a 6 round win over Latif Muney. Arias, who doesn’t have the experience of his opponents, has prov-en he’s got the boxing skills to move forward in his boxing career.

Ronald Gavril, another fighter under Mayweather’s stable stopped Jas Phipps in the 5th round of scheduled 6 round fight. Chris Pearson, stopped Arturo Crespin, who had the heart, but not the boxing skills. Andrew Tabiti, someone to also watch out of the Mayweather Boxing Gym, made his pro debut, taking out Ronald Hawk in about 30 seconds of round one.

The next fight Mayweather Promotions will be promoting with Golden Boy, is on September 14th, when Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. takes on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
