The Unabashed Truth About Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders

The right arm of the Democratic Party are the “journalists” of the mainstream media from the New York Times to MSLSD. One should never expect them to provide a fair account of our political system or straight news in general.

A prime example is their coverage of Democratic presidential candidates including independent (socialist) Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT). Not unlike past Democratic presidential candidates like ‘climate expert’ Al Gore who was a ‘C’ student in journalism, but somehow an expert at global warming, Bernie goes unwritten for his flaws also.

Bernie Sanders Bio

The following is a bio on old Bernie you will never read or hear about in the gushing media. They will produce every imaginable pimple on their number one enemy, Donald Trump, but God forbid they ever cover candidates like socialist Bernie with as much enthusiasm.

The first interesting tidbit includes other Democrats running for the presidency including Sen. Cory Booker (NJ), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) and Sen. Kamala Harris (CA). Mind you, if the following happened to be the record of a Republican running for president, it would be covered like a blanket.

  • In all her years in the Senate, Elizabeth Warren has introduced a total of 110 bills, A grand total of two have been passed.
  • Sen. Cory Booker introduced 120 bills. A grand total of zero passed.
  • Rookie Sen. Kamala Harris introduced 54 bills. A grand total of zero passed.
  • Then there is old Bernie the socialist. In all his many years in the Senate, he has introduced 364 bills. A grand total of three have passed and two of those were to name post offices.

There’s much more about one of the leading candidates to be your president: Bernie never held a real job until he was elected a Vermont mayor at age 53. He lived off welfare with four different women, had a child out of wedlock with one and three marriages that didn’t work out.

Wikipedia Details

The Wikipedia version is far more revealing, and every American voter should read it before entering the voting booth. A condensed summary is presented here:

Bernie Sanders’ father was a high school dropout who tormented his family with rants about their financial problems. He blamed society and economic inequality for his plight, though as a white male in a middle-class neighborhood, he was hardly among the downtrodden.

That environment of unhappiness propelled Bernie to take up the cause of social justice. He would go on to spend half his life as an able-bodied college graduate living off unemployment checks, and the women in his life, between odd jobs of little or no substance.

The very average student from Brooklyn College (not a Vermont native) transferred to the Univ. of Chicago protecting him from the draft. That left plenty of time to partake in far-left communist politics, gaining national notoriety by petitioning the school to let students have sex in the dormitories.

Swapping Civil Rights For Socialism

Old Bernie did indeed participate in the 1963 March on Washington. He is quick to remind his mesmerized audiences of this. But his civil rights activism ended when he became obsessed with socialism.

We are not talking so-called “democratic socialism,” but oppressive far-left Marxism. You know, Russia, Lenin and Stalin?

Living Off Women and The State

Fast forward to Bernie’s marriage to his college classmate, Deborah Shilling. They spent his small inheritance on a summer home in Vermont on 85 acres. The “home” had a dirt floor and no electricity, maintaining his proletariat credibility, but not impressing his new bride.

Still without a steady job, his wife left him. They were divorced after 18 months. All this while the Vietnam War was escalating. Bernie applied for a conscientious objector deferment; it was denied.

That didn’t stop Bernie from having a child out of wedlock in 1969 with his new girlfriend, Susan Mott, even though he was still unemployed. That protected him from the draft, but he still had no way to support his family.

The good news for Bernie was when his draft number came up, he was too old to be drafted. Whew, dodged that bullet, but lack of any real income led to Susan Mott leaving him.

No to be dissuaded, in 1988 he married Jane Driscoll and spent his honeymoon in the USSR. Look it up, it’s a fact.

After returning, his new wife supported Bernie financially as he attempted to win public office several times. Jane was his number one cheerleader sharing his radical leftist political views. Together they merrily visited the pro-Soviet Sandinista Government in Nicaragua. Bernie was quick to overlook the human rights violations, support for anti-American terrorists and the imprisonment and exile of opponents.

Nope, old Bernie turned a blind eye for a more fashionable persona among his base of support. He eagerly tried to schedule a meeting with none other than Fidel Castro in Cuba but was turned away.

Running For Office To Escape Work

Life went on and Bernie managed to never vote in a single election until he finally ran for Mayor of Burlington, VT at the age of 40.

After several failed elections, he finally won the office of Mayor of Burlington, VT, and eventually a Senate seat. From that seat of lawmaking power, Bernie has never had a real or viable economic plan for this country or a clue how to deal with foreign policy.

So, what is his excuse for that? He says, “I’ve only been campaigning for three months.” The hell he has. It’s more like a lifetime of empty gibberish. He pursues the Democratic nomination even though he is a registered independent. In fact, all the Democrats in Vermont’s government endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 over Bernie.

How is this man qualified to be President of the United States? It appears the people who know Bernie best cannot stand him. Not unlike Hillary Clinton, no one can name three things Bernie has done in office that anyone can remember.

Dwight L. Schwab Jr. is a moderate conservative who looks at all sides of a story, then speaks his mind. He has written more than 3500 national political and foreign affairs columns.
