Jussie Smollett’s reprehensible ‘prank’ is not the first time this has happened. The debate over the validity of many past ‘hate crimes’ has increased dramatically. There are so few actual hate crimes that democrats now make them up, creating racial hoax stories.
While the left-leaning media jumps on the bandwagon when anything appears to be anti-Trump or anti-conservative anything, such ‘pranks’ have reached epidemic levels.
One watchdog group has found more than 50 hate crime hoaxes carried out over the last seven years on America’s college campuses alone. The student-run group, The College Fix, uncovered nine hate crime hoaxes between 2012 and 2014. That included the notorious Montclair State University students who claimed to have found racist graffiti in various dorms against minorities and women.
Fabricating a Racial Hoax
But like so many of these so-called racial offences, police investigators discovered the students reporting the crime(s) made it all up. Another 11 hate crimes were reported in 2015, The College Fix reported. That included a fabricated story concerning a female Muslim student who claimed she was “stalked and threatened by a guy with a gun.”
Breitbart reported that, “It turned out that she had fabricated the entire incident.” The news organization worked closely with The College Fix in reporting the wide variety of hoaxes.
In another unproven “hate crime,” three “nooses” were discovered hanging near the hall where Black Lives Matter had held a meeting at the University of Delaware. After a thorough investigation was launched, they turned out not to be nooses, but “remnants of paper lanterns” left over from an event.
Then in 2016, Elon University students were aghast to uncover graffiti that said, “Bye, Bye Latinos Hasta La Vista.” It coincided with that year’s presidential election. Much later it was uncovered that the graffiti was written by a Latino student.
The list of these fabricated crimes is numerous and disturbing. The media is all too anxious to report them before they have been investigated because it fits their liberal narrative of America.
Escalating Epidemic
The above incidents are just a small sampling of a type of crime that has increased dramatically. Smollett’s case is one, and is just an escalation of the epidemic. He claimed to be attacked by Trump supporters, but as the situation unfolded, it began to look more and more to the authorities like the “Empire” actor might have staged the whole thing. Indeed, he did and he is now charged with multiple felonies.
Why would he do it? Why would anyone do it? They are embracing victimhood in its ugliest form. It is identity politics where the perpetrating individuals will go to any length to fulfill their hateful narrative.
Jussie Smollett essentially blamed Americans who voted for Trump. They are all guilty of the so-called crime. The proliferation of these hoaxes has dramatically escalated since Donald Trump became president.
Where Are The Investigative Journalists?
It is time for the liberal media and the left they serve to take a hard look in the mirror. For a group of people who call themselves “tolerant and inclusive,” they are the exact opposite.
Where are the true journalists to report this disturbing trend? Not in the mainstream media. Most have become democrat shills on entertainment channels, discarding their journalistic ethics.
