Wednesday’s shooting of a congressman in the suburbs of Washington is a telling sign of where public behavior is taking the country. It seems that every day brings louder or ruder behavior from our public officials that lowers the standards of common courtesy propelling psychos like the shooter in Washington into action.
Scoring points with rudeness is the nifty way to get national recognition these days. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led the way with her questioning witness Attorney General Sessions a month ago. Her constant interruptions of the witness made it impossible to verbalize an answer.
Warren was brought to the forefront by the committee chairman for her rudeness which was construed by the hysterical media as “an insult to women.” It appears that common decency is even under assault in this politically correct world of the left. Nothing is sacred as they will do whatever it takes to achieve their political goals.
Last week, newly-elected California Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) tried her hand at the national exposure game. Her constant interruptions of the witness showed utter disrespect for the institution, but made her “presidential timbre” to her peers and the media.
To others in attendance and viewing on TV, it showed a lack of normal human courtesy and her inflated sense of self-importance. This is becoming a disturbing trend by wanna-be political stars to make their mark on the Washington scene. Harris has only been a senator since January.
She repeatedly interrupted a fine and decent human being, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, as she tried to get all her political agenda questions in. Sessions showed great patience with the over-the-top rudeness of Harris. He provided honest and full responses to her badgering inquiries.
The junior senator was treating Sessions as a hostile witness in a criminal trial. Sessions, for his part, attempted to ignore her rudeness and not make it an issue, although her demeanor made it obvious what she wished to achieve.
At one point, an exasperated Sessions noted that she should allow him to finish a question before branding am a liar. Had it been a court of law, the judge may well have cited Harris for contempt with her abrupt and uncalled-for lack of professionalism.
Is this the new tactic of the left? From the obscenity-riddled speeches by the DNC Chairman Mike Perez to an insulting play in New York portraying the murder of President Trump, what do the Democrats hope to achieve?
Harris’s disgraceful performance on live TV suggests she’s going places in Democratic politics. Is this the new norm for the future “progressive” leaders of this country?
