PHOTOS: Gen. Petraeus honors Patriot Brigade Soldiers at FOB Shield

FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – Gen. David Petraeus, the commanding general of Multi-National Forces – Iraq, awards a Combat Infantryman Badge to Sgt. Christopher Gottschling at Forward Operating Base Shield in eastern Baghdad Sept. 10. Gottschling is a Hilltown, Pa., native, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division – Baghdad. Petraeus presented other awards and commander’s coins to several other outstanding Patriot Brigade Soldiers.

His visit to FOB shield was part of his final battlefield circulation as MNF-I commanding general as he prepares for his new assignment as the commanding general of U.S. Central Command.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – Gen. David Petraeus, the commanding general of Multi-National Forces – Iraq, presents Sgt. Ashlee Kellstadt his commander’s coin at Forward Operating Base Shield in eastern Baghdad Sept. 10. Kellstadt is a Brimfield, Ill., native, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division – Baghdad and was awarded the coin for her outstanding performance as a FOB Loyalty aid station medic.

The Patriot Brigade Soldiers were presented awards, such as Combat Infantryman Badges, while Petraeus recognized other Soldiers and their efforts with commanding general coins.
