The world may have had enough of Kim Kardashian and her “Junk in the Trunk,” as a grassroots campaign is now in the works of getting her and her family off the air. Leading this petition is Cyndy Snider, who said the name represents “vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption.”
“While some may have begun watching the spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a sort of ‘reality satire’,” she commented, “It is a sad truth that many young people are looking up to this family and are modeling their appearance and behavior after them. I’ll remind you here that the Kardashian family fame largely started with a ‘leaked’ sex tape.”
In other words, they’re famous for being famous.
Along with sisters Kourtney and Khloe, and their mom-ager Kris Jenner, Kim became a reality sensation in 2007 with Keeping up with the Kardashians on E! Entertainment Television. Its growing popularity led to spin-offs Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and Khloe & Lamar; the Kardashian name went on to become a brand in clothing and perfume. The show also provided several opportunities for the family, including younger brother Robert currently competing on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Kourtney guest-starring on the daytime soap One Life to Live (OLTL), and Kris guest-hosting CBS’ The Talk and putting out the book Kris Jenner…And All Things Kardashian.
Kim, who recently filed for divorce of her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries, is set to co-star in Tyler Perry’s The Marriage Counselor, which led to another petition of getting her role to be completely cut from the upcoming film, along with negative fan comments on Perry’s website.
However, reports are stating that Kim has hired acting coach Susan Batson to prepare her in the story about a woman trying to save her troubled marriage. Or, in Kim’s case, Kris was the one who wanted to save their marriage.
