Unstoppable Confidence Book Review

Ken Sayre is a certified NLP trainer. Before that he was shy, awkward and going nowhere. The title of his book “Unstoppable Confidence” is enough to make you want to read it.

The table of contents is well set out in four logical parts.

  • Getting in Gear
  • Gaining Momentum
  • The Language of Unstoppable Confidence
  • Becoming Unstoppable
  • Each part has a small number of chapters 4, 5, 3, 2. This helps make it non threatening, There is a two page appendix and a six page index at the back.

In the intro, Sayre states his goal of helping everyone and I believe the book does that, but it could do better.

In Chapter 1, Sayre outlines his change from shy to confident. I thought this was intersting, but it could have been made more powerful, to emphasise the difference.

The opening is the point where those who need it the most might give up. Between the description of himself before and after, I was looking for something to give me extra enthusiasm, to make me see myself in his position. That would have made me keep reading, but it didn’t lock me in, and I stopped to have a drink of water and got sidetracked on other things.

Chapter 2 is an improvement in style and attention-holding, with more emphasis of the positive points he is making. Some writers and editors close a chapter with a very short summary and others do it by bolding and spacing the important point as they are introduced. Either of these would have helped readers.

In places, Sayre writes to me as though I was someone else, saying “they,” rather than “you.” I want him to talk to me, not someone else, because I am the one he is trying to boost.

The final paragraph in Chapter 2 is brilliant – that is what it is all about, but again the presentation is lacking. This paragraph packs a punch, but it is cleverly hidden by masking it in a long paragraph, with no spacing, no emphasis and no summary.

Presentation amd length aside, I love the paragraph, it makes the point perfectly.

I liked the ending to Chapters 4 and 9, an exercise that builds on what has just been learned.

In part 4, Chapter 13, I found the formatting I was looking for. Twenty one techniques to supercharge your confidence, laid out well and highlighting the main points.

The final chapter wraps up by provinging tips to get started, build a support structure, set the pathway, get started and take action and never stop.

The book needs some polishing, but the points made are good and valid. Don’t let anything stop you – get this book, read it, apply what you learn, and be unstoppable.

If you are serious about gaining more confidence, you must get this book!
