Congress MLA Link With Most Wanted Auto Theft Kingpin

Assam police on Friday released a shocking report of a linkage between one of the state’s Congress MLAs with a most wanted auto theft kingpin who was arrested on Thursday night near Guwahati.

Police arrested the man, who was labeled the most wanted for auto theft in Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. Meghalaya police arrested both Anil Chauhan and his associate Munin Choudhury in the Azara area on the outskirts of Guwahati.

Guwahati City police Commissioner Mukesh Agarwal said of all the car theives across the country, Anil Chauhan is the most wanted.

“Anil was the main leader of inter state car lifter gang. He was earlier arrested in Delhi. Last night police recovered a 9mm pistol, a revolver, five rounds of ammunition, six mobile phone handsets and an Eon car in from them,” the city police Commissioner said.

When City police raided Anil Chauhan’s house, they seized several cars of the Congress MLA, some photographs, fake driving licenses, and registration cards. Police also discovered a linkage between a Congress MLA and Anil Chauhan

During the police interrogation, Chauhan revealed that he was also involved in the recent theft of a medicine laden truck in Guwahati.
