White House Continues To Inflate Obamacare Numbers

As I wrote last week in House Republicans Pass 50th Attempt to Alter Obamacare, the White House and Democrats in general have been putting out a huge misleading spin on Obamacare enrollment numbers.

I said, “Now we hear that around 4 million people have enrolled in private insurance through the marketplaces. The term ‘enrolled’ does not mean paid for insurance. It just means enrolled. No statistics yet on who has already paid a premium after enrolling.”

“The Democrat spin on the 4 million is that 4 million people can now afford healthcare, but that isn’t what the 4 million means. We will have to wait longer to discover how many of those 4 million actually got the insurance after enrolling in the exchange.”

McKinsey, the leading management consulting firm, has been conducting monthly surveys of the exchange-eligible population through the Center for U.S. Health System Reform.

The Obama administration has been issuing grossly inflated and misleading statistics about Obamacare health coverage.

It was already suspected that not everyone who “selected a marketplace plan” under Obamacare actually paid premiums. They simply signed up at the website, but did not actively become covered.

It turns out that only a fraction of people on the exchanges were previously uninsured. In other words, many were were people who already had insurance, and may have lost it due to Obamacare causing their insurer to cancel their insurance.

McKinsey reveals the misconceptions in the report, and their new survey provides something more like the real numbers.

While the White House proclaims 3.3 million people as Obamacare exchange “sign-ups,” less than 500,000 are actually uninsured people who have actually gained health coverage. Many Obamacare ‘enrollees’ aren’t actually enrolled.

McKinsey’s most recent study, conducted last month, surveyed the exchange-eligible population, and 2,096 eligible respondents revealed that 48 percent had actually signed up for a 2014 health plan. Of that 48 percent, three-fifths were previously insured and liked their old plans, actually keeping them.

Only two-fifths were signed up for coverage on the Obamacare exchanges.

It also turns out that 27% of enrollees are young people, far less than the 40% heard in White House spin.

Ever-optimistic Obama advocates now suggest that younger people will wait until the last minute to sign up as they did in Massachusetts. More likely they will not sign up at all – why would they?

All this undermines the very foundation of Obamacare, which passed by one vote (all Democrats) in 2010.

These are the statistics that tell the truth about the miserable failure of Obamacare, that Obama and Democrats do not want to be known.

What a horrible mess this is. Of course, Obama and the democrats will be blaming the whole failure on republicans – it is really the only course of action they have at their disposal, because there is no other way they can spin these numbers into a success.

More than a month ago, Dick Durbin falsely claimed on Television, that there were 10 million enrollees, but if you listen to his exact words in the video below, he says “I am finding people, who, for the first time in their live have an opportunity for affordable health insurance.” He didn’t say they have purchased it, he said they have an opportunity to get it. These are completely different things. because those people are just talking about it, not getting it.
