Irresponsible Political Leaders in Nepal

The geographical and ethnic diversities call out for a people-oriented constitutional monarchy in Nepal. No foreigner who came here as advisor or diplomat ever recognized this fact of Nepal’s two next-door neighbours.

Nepal never had to face any pestering or annoyance from China since it became a communist country. On the other hand, India always carried the leaders of Nepal on its shoulder and always poked into Nepal’s national sovereignty. Since the Congress (I) came to power, India never wanted Nepal to remain a sovereign and democratic country.

Because the United Nations, America and the European countries failed to realize this, unrest and terrorism is being institutionalized in Nepal. This has not done any good for India.

Foreign powers that have been meddling in Nepal need to understand clearly that the corrupt and warped leaders of the parties will not save the independence and sovereignty of Nepal. Therefore, the Nepalese do not support the despotism of the so-called parties alliance and the illegal and unauthorized decisions it has taken. Nepal cannot survive being a republic and a secular country.

The movement called the seven-party alliance stopped only after the King revived the parliament, the political parties themselves had dissolved with consent of the king. But they continued dismantling the country’s institutions and they sneaked in the interim constitution (the document of the seven parties) made in their own interests.

Then, without the people’s consent, they formed an interim parliament by unconstitutionally adding 330 of their cadres and workers without any basis. The country bore the cost of their perks and benefits for no rationale at all.

The interim parliament and the interim cabinet, which was formed without the people’s mandate, continued to walk a totally illegal and illogical path. They did not think it necessary to formally apprise the King about the interim constitution and the interim parliament.

It was surprising that foreign governments supported the illegal government, the parliament and its decisions. It appeared that anything can be pushed through coercion? Where is the justice of the United Nations?

To tell it frankly, there is no need for the inefficient and incompetent special representatives of UNMIN group, including Ian Martin and the controversial US ambassador in Nepal. Most importantly, it was not mandatory for the King and the people to follow and abide the decision on the future of monarchy through a constitution assembly. No political solution can be reached just by instigating one’s anarchic and uncontrollable party workers. Where in the world can one find such a lie and deceit?

In any democracy, has anyone the right to remain in power or in government by trampling on legitimacy? After the controversial interim constitution was announced, all geographical regions – Terai, mountain – and the east and the west were angered and terrorized.

Communal strife and violence has taken an ugly and horrible shape. People are slit and shot. The subversive government sponsored by former culprit P.M.Girija P. Koirala has broken up the country. What could be more worrying than this?

Nepal being a amall country with the population of 25 million can’t sustain the huge amount to be allocated for 601 members of legislative parliament as elected and selected as per the constituent assembly. The members thus comprised in assembly are not qualified enough to draft the constitution. They are only to draw perks, facilities and quarrel among themselves.

The Nepalese people want to see the country safe and lasting peace prevailing with monarchy and the political parties remaining in harmony with each other. But the country has fallen into despair and is unprotected and vulnerable to break up because of the nefarious and unholy alliances and deals.

The baseless party leaders are pushing Nepal towards a volatile situation by breaking open Pandora’s box. The people say party leaders are traitors and irresponsible.

The international community, the UN, America and the European Union should rethink their roles and work to bring the King, political parties and the people in conformity with each other for a lasting peace, nationalism and institutionalizing democracy in Nepal. If this is not done not, nationalist Nepalese may rise to protect the country from the despotic parties and their leaders who serve the interests of their own parties or their foreign handlers.
