Whilst many would be excited about the prospect of meeting Aliens or seeing a UFO, Professor Stephen Hawking believes that we should not try and make contact with them and hope that they don’t notice us.
Professor Hawking is of the opinion that Aliens might appear in massive ships, looking for planets to conquer and colonise, perhaps seeking resources that have been used up on their home planet.
“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.” said Stephen Hawking.
Although most of us are beginning to accept that life on other planets will exist, a view clearly shared by Stephen Hawking, it would be wrong to assume that all Alien races are friendly in nature.
There must be many planets in the universe that are facing life threatening situations, and those that possess advanced life forms would surely look for new homes, if they have the technology to do so. Even our own planet will face this dilemma in the future, when our sun dies (although this won’t happen for a long time yet).
Of course, there are many who believe that contact has already been made with Aliens, but this is being kept a secret. Thousands of “UFO” sightings are made every year and whilst the majority may have earthly origins, there are perhaps quite a few that are genuine.
Maybe, until we are better prepared for less than friendly Alien visitors, we should take Stephen Hawking’s advice seriously. Unfortunately, if we wait until it happens, the chances are it will be too late to do anything about it!
