British rising star Lolene is one to watch out for, reports music editor Bruce Edwin of Subnormal and The Hollywood Sentinel.
The Capitol Records recording artist has announced her debut album The Electrick Hotel will be released in August, 2010.
The British dance floor booty shakers first single “Rich (Fake It Til You Make It) “is about living your life as if you’ve already made it, about believing you are what you want to be and having the confidence to know dreams can come true,” Lolene states.
The single will hit top 40 radio in June and is currently available at iTunes. A free download is being offered on Lolene’s website http://lolenemusic.com/rich_freedownload.html.
Lolene erupted into the club world last fall by releasing her first song ever “Sexy People” which reached #5 on the Billboard dance charts. She has spent the last few months playing at dance clubs around the country including multiple shows at Miami’s Winter Music Conference and a recent performance at Palm Spring’s Dinah Shore weekend.
Months before the release of The Electrick Hotel, songs have begun appearing in TV commercials and movies.
The very catchy “Sexy People” was featured in a Victoria Secret commercial last December and “Rich (Fake It Til You Make It)” is currently featured in the Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler Columbia Pictures film “The Bounty Hunter.” “Sexy People” will also be used in the upcoming Columbia Pictures film “Born To Be A Star” starring Christina Ricci and Nick Swardson opening Labor Day weekend.
Lolene Start
Lolene got her start in music as a teenager in her home town of Bristol, England by writing songs and singing backing vocals for trip-hop artist Martina Topley-Bird and local drum-and-bass pioneer Roni Size. After finishing school, she moved to London and fronted an all-girl pop vocal group signed to a development deal at BMG Records.
She left London for Hollywood, and with a demo alone, scored a songwriting deal with multi-platinum producer J.R. Rotem (Rick Ross, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Sean Kingston) through his publishing label Beluga Heights/Sony ATV.
While writing for Rotem, Lolene came up with the concept of the The Electrick Hotel and soon signed a deal as a solo artist with EMI’s Capitol Records.
