Farrah Fawcett Now Appearing in Heaven

Farrah Fawcett has now earned her wings, when the iconic beauty passed away Thursday morning inside St. John’s at 9:28 am. Longtime soul mate Ryan O’Neal and friend Alaina Stewart were among those with her during her final moments, as she lost her three-year battle with cancer. Her son, Redmond, wasn’t able to be there with his mother, as the young man was in the middle of a progressive report for his drug problem when it happened.

In the mid-1970s, Farrah became an eternal sex symbol thanks to her famous poster plastered on the walls of teenage boys and men everywhere. She hit her stride thanks to her role as Jill Monroe on ABC’s Charlie’s Angels (1976-81). Though she was only on for the first season, she was the breakout star with her “girl next door” appeal and her hair that became known as the “Farrah”.

Farrah returned to Charlie’s Angels as a “special guest star” over the next three seasons. It was during her superstar rise that she married Lee Majors in 1973, star of The Six Million Dollar Man, became Hollywood’s “golden couple” during their union. They married in 1973 and divorced nine years later due to “irreconcilable differences”.

She reinvented herself in the 1980s with as a critically acclaimed actress with The Burning Bed (1984) and in the stage and film version of Extremities. It was in that era that she found the love of her life: Ryan O’Neal.

Introduced by then-friend Majors, the never-married couple went to become one of the most enduring and passionate love stories in Hollywood, which led to the birth of their son, Redmond, now 24. The couple starred together in the TV movie Small Sacrifices (1989) and the 1991 short-lived series Good Sports. Ryan and Farrah broke up in 1997, but reunited when Ryan was diagnosed with leukemia, and it was Ryan’s turn when Farrah became sick as well — documented in Farrah’s Story.
