According to James Montgomery from MTV.com, musician Bill Doss died. Wikipedia states that Doss, 43, died on July 30, 2012, and that he was a resident of Athens, Georgia. His death was not announced until July 31st.
Bill Doss and His Future Partners in Music
Bill Doss was a native of Dubach, Louisiana. Dubach is also where Doss met his high school friends and future fellow musicians.
Along with Doss, Will Cullen Hart, Robert Schneider and Jeff Mangum later co-founded The Elephant 6 Recording Company (Elephant 6).
The Elephant 6 Recording Company
Elephant 6 was a group of musicians who began many notable independent bands of the 1990s. They included The Apples in Stereo, The Olivia Tremor Control (previously The Sunshine Fix), Neutral Milk Hotel, Beulah, Elf Power, Of Montreal and Circulatory System.
60’s Pop
After Mangum left the band to pursue his own Neutral Milk Hotel, Hart and Doss began to pool their musical influences. Hart was a proponent of experimentalism, and Doss of 60’s pop such as The Beatles, the Beach Boys and The Zombies.
Band Breaks Up
In 2000 after the release of the second The Olivia Tremor Control album, Black Foliage, the band broke up.
Bill Doss was married to free-lance photographer Amy Hairston Doss. They met while attending Louisiana Tech University.

The Olivia Tremor Control confirmed Bill Doss’ death, more about it is on their website. The cause of death is not yet known.
