Most Anticipated Movies That Haven’t Been Released This Year

Everyone enjoys watching a good movie once in awhile. Of course, it would be great if you could only watch good movies but that’s impossible because tastes are subjective. However, it’s easy to acknowledge that some movies are more anticipated than others. Some are anticipated sequels, some are the first of a planned new series, and some are standalone movies that have caught people’s interest through a well-made trailer or plot synopsis. For every case, there are hundreds of movies that are highly anticipated each year. Without a doubt, each movie on this list will have a global premiere in the months to follow and will be accompanied by a film translation, either through subtitles or voice dubbing, depending on the country.

Justice League

Movies based on DC Comics don’t always receive great reviews from either critics nor enthusiasts. Certainly, there are a few well-appreciated movies released in the past years, such as the original Superman movie, the Dark Knight trilogy or, most recently, Wonder Woman. However, a large number of DC Comics enthusiasts feel that the movies have been less-than-good. Hopefully, the trend will change in the near future. The next movie to be released is Justice League. So far it has received very positive feedback based on its trailers and both critics and moviegoers have their hopes high. The movie is set to be released in November.

Thor: Ragnarok

The never ending battle between Marvel and DC Universe will continue with the third installment of the Thor series: Thor: Ragnarok. Based on the trailer it’s safe to assume that the movie will keep the humorous approach that most Marvel movies have. The stars of the previous movies, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, are making a comeback as brothers Thor and Loki. If the trend continues, Thor: Ragnarok will be another blockbuster, like the majority of Marvel movies that have been launched in the previous years. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re good or bad movies, it just means that people enjoy watching them in cinemas.

The Dark Tower

One of the most anticipated movies of 2017 is The Dark Tower, a movie inspired by Stephen King’s epic fantasy series with the same name. If you’re a fan of King’s novels you’ve probably heard that a good number of them have been turned into movies or mini-series. However, this will be the first time that his ‘magnum opus’, as King calls the saga, is transposed in a movie. While the budget wasn’t incredibly large, the two main characters, The Gunslinger and The Man In Black, are played by Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, respectively. The premise is great. We’ll have to wait until August 4th to see if the execution is just as great.

Blade Runner 2049

A movie sequel that’s being released 35 years after the original. Talk about building up suspense. Although talks about a sequel have been surfacing since the early 1999s, the actual production began in 2016. Many of the people who worked on the first movie will be returning, including writer Hampton Fancher and actor Harrison Ford. The movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who is best known for Sicario, Arrival, and Prisoners. The original movie is one of the best rated movies of all times, both by critics and movie enthusiasts. It’s safe to say that the expectations are very high for the sequel. Keep your eyes peeled for October, when the movie is going to be released.
