Inevitably, wherever I go, there are plenty of Italian restaurants available all over Southern California. However, there are some outstanding eateries here, and one of them is Hollywood Pasta Company in Burbank.
This restaurant is owned and operated by Kurt Ehrlich and Emil Hormozi, who is a world renowned furniture designer. Chef Ehrlich began his career in the culinary arts in Europe. He has worked for Tavern On The Green in New York City and The Waldorf Astoria. He had the pleasure of handling culinary dinners for Presidents Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. I met Chef Kurt for the first time at The Lori-mar Winery in Temecula, California at their grand opening.
During our interview for Youtube.com/peteonthescene, I was invited to take a dining journey, at his restaurant in Burbank, which I humbly accepted with my associate, Rossana Huang. Our dining journey began with some red wine from Lori-mar Winery and a great conversation. Then came some appetizers, which included Roma Bread, made with fresh garlic, artichoke, eggplant, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and artichoke hearts in olive oil. Along with that came Pasta Valencia, mixed field greens, organic tomatoes, prosciutto, Italian salami, olives, artichokes, mortadella and fresh mozzarella.
There’s nothing like a great Italian salad and that was a tasty one at that. Now, after some more conversations and a bit more of wine, it was certainly time for our main course. Rossana had Fettuccine Alfredo, which she couldn’t stop raving about, especially since she’s a vegetarian. I ordered the Fresh Atlantic Salmon with butter sauce, accompanied with potatoes and fresh carrots, just the way I like them. What more could you ask for. With our tummies full, Chef Ehrlich couldn’t let us depart without his famous homemade desserts that he made so elegantly.
Italian cheesecake, with fresh strawberries and Italian ices, with an array of cakes, what’s not to like. Take me a way in a stroller, for my tummy was completely satisfied to my heart’s content. Ah, but just one more thing, cappuccino. That hits the spot, especially when you have to drive home for hours.
