Casa Positano: A Sparkling Gem of Forest Hills Fine Dining

The Austin Street area of Forest Hills, Queens, exemplifies shopping from discount-everything to quality clothing of evening gowns and leather jackets, books and video stores, movies and of course; a variety of eateries. But when only top service will do, when the urge to dine out or hold an event necessitates excellent cuisine, atmosphere and hospitality, Casa Positano Ristorante Italiano stands tall.

New owners Tommy, Sal and Dino recreated a cozy ambiance, a delicate, decorative blend with a sand-grain stucco ceiling, an ornate tile floor and brick oven, art, lamps, maple wood chairs and an attached solarium for groups or private gatherings. Blue pin-striped awnings, window boxes, and flower pots adorn for sidewalk dining.

Delicious and delightful, traditionally expected Italian dishes bring familiarity, while Sal’s surreal fine art adds color and mystique all around. Begin with thoughtfully prepared fresh Calamaretti Fritti, then to fresh bread, homemade pasta cooked to perfection “al dente,” garlic sauce with parsley, wild mushrooms and shrimps, “Un po di vino” (a little wine). There is no more to be said, except “Dolci” (dessert), Tiramisu with special Mascarpone cream, and espresso or cappuccino. Add the words, courtesy, care and quick service.

Window

With a view that overlooks beautifully renovated Captain MacDonald Park, an authentic Mediterranean menu along with a piano accompaniment, comedy shows, free parking and flashing summer fireflies (no extra charge); anyone can enjoy the pleasant-dining Positano experience.
