It was a Friday evening when I decided to take a journey to Italy. Since I wasn’t about to board a jet, I did the next best thing and took a culinary journey to C and O Cucina Ristorante in Marina del Rey.
When I entered the restaurant, it was packed and the music was just right, with people conversing and laughing, making it just right to lift up ones spirit.
Cal Kalbassi, the manager greeted me and found me a table within a few minutes. While perusing the area, I went to The Rat Pack room where the cocktail lounge is located and folks can order appetizers while their table is prepared.
The ambiance at The Rat Pack Room is like being in New York with memorabilia from that time period and oh yes, Frank Sinatra and friends. Most impressive though is the attitude of the folks who work at Cucina’s. The big family is willing to share some knowledge about northern and southern Italian cuisine, as well as their Black Angus Steaks, fish, and even whole wheat and gluten free pastas. Enough already, time to take you on that culinary journey.
My waiter, Anthony, gave me all the right information as the killer garlic rolls where brought to every-ones table, as soon as they sat down. That’s great service with a smile. Ah but they’re addicting and filling, so control yourselves on your dining journey.
I ordered Lobster Bisque soup which is prepared daily with lobster bits. Wow, for $8.95 that’s a whole meal. It’s enough to easily feed two. Sometimes my eyes are bigger then my stomach. Nevertheless, I then ordered the Capellini, which is angel hair pasta, topped with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and tomato bits within the pasta. Ah, the portions are big and the price is reasonable and the pasta is top quality. What’s not to like. Indeed, Bob and Debbie Singer created the most popular spot in the Marina. So, if you’re looking for that Italian spirit, with a wonderful dining experience, then C and O Cucina Ristaurante and Bar is definitely the place for you and your family. They also specialize in small to moderate anniversaries, weddings, and special occasions and catering. One may inquire about the terrace dining or the upstairs area for those occasions. Before we leave, on a final word, try their deserts, especially the Mango Sherbet.
