Wendy Williams may have some competition in the near future, as Queen Latifah plans another attempt to mark her reign in the daytime world as host of a new talk show from both her Flavor Unit Entertainment and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. The award-winning rapper/actress recently had a self-titled show that debuted a year after her FOX sitcom Living Single (1993-1998) ended after five successful seasons.
Dubbed as the “Dear Abby for the Hip-Hop Generation”, The Queen Latifah Show lasted two seasons from 1999 to 2001.
This one will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and set to premiere in the fall of 2013.
Latifah, who recently co-starred in The Dilemma earlier this year, has two movies out next year: Joyful Noise with Dolly Parton on January 13, and reprising the voice of Ellie in Ice Age: Continental Drift on July 13.
