You can’t run from evil when it lives next door
Colin Farrell sinks his teeth into his fans when discussing his latest movie Fright Night at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.
A remake of the 1985 cult classic, Farrell succeeds Chris Sarandon as seductive vampire Jerry Dandridge, who is also the next-door neighbor of young Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin). When Charley discovers Jerry’s secret and his connection to a string of recent murders, he enlists the aid of so-called vampire hunter Peter Vincent (David Tennant, Doctor Who) to stake him before Charley, his girlfriend Amy, and his mother (Toni Collette) are the next victims.
The original earned rave reviews and grossed $24 million dollars in the U.S., and spawned the less-successful 1988 sequel, Fright Night Part II.
Farrell has recently signed on for another remake, this time as Doug Quaid in Total Recall, based on Philip K. Dick’s short story entitled “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”. The 1990 blockbuster with Arnold Schwarzenegger grossed $261 million dollars worldwide; the remake is set to be released August 3, 2012.
Fright Night comes out August 19.
