Chris Hemsworth Sets Off An Ancient War in The Movie ‘Thor’

Paramount and Marvel are about to strike lightning and thunder in more ways than one next summer with the Asgard God known as Thor with rising Australian actor Chris Hemsworth in the titular role.

Due to his arrogance, Thor set off “an ancient war” in his home realm, leading his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) to banish his son to Earth as part of his penance. There, he falls in love with beautiful scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and must understand what it means to be an hero when he must stop his evil brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and save humanity.

This isn’t the first time that Thor came to life onscreen. In 1988, he fought alongside The Incredible Hulk in the made-for-TV sequel entitled The Incredible Hulk Returns, which was set to be a backdoor pilot for a weekly Thor live-action series that was never produced.

Hemsworth will also reprise the role in the highly anticipated Avengers that is set for a May 4, 2012 release.

Meanwhile, Thor will bring the hammer down onto the big screen May 6, 2011.
