2008 Teen Choice Awards: Will ‘Gossip Girl’ Rule?

Rumors have been confirmed that Gossip Girl have ruled this year’s Teen Choice Awards. The breakout freshman hit on the CW, which begins its second season on September 1, was nominated for 14 Choice awards and won six — including the top honors for Choice TV Drama, Breakout Show, Breakout Female Star for Blake Lively, and Breakout Male Star for Chace Crawford.

“I feel like I’m still a teenager because I’m perpetually in high school” the actor said backstage. “And I’m 23.”

Performances at the event features 15-year-old sensation and this year’s host Miley Cyrus, who won three awards, and Camp Rock heartthrob trio The Jonas Brothers, who also did a sweep with six awards that includes Choice Breakout Group, Love Song, and Male Hotties.

It was still the summer of Big Willie Smith, when I Am Legend was named Choice Horror/Thriller Movie and the actor was named Choice Actor (Horror/Thriller). His latest blockbuster, Hancock, was named as Choice Action/Adventure Summer Movie.

Though David Beckham was named Choice Male Athlete, his youngest son, Chaz, stole the spotlight from his father with an improvised break dancing routine onstage when the soccer star went onstage to accept his award.

“He went on tour with the Spice Girls” he responds. “He learned some moves from them.”

The 2008 Teen Choice Awards airs tonight at 8pm on FOX.
