Swami Kriyananda Wins Book Award for ‘The New Path’

The Win Marks the Second Top Honor for the Book This Year

CA -Swami Kriyananda’s The New Path: My Life with Paramhansa Yogananda has just been awarded top honors in the Spiritual Book category for the 2010 USA Book News Awards. Earlier this year, the book won the Eric Hoffer 2010 Book Award in the Spiritual/Self-Help category.

Swami Kriyananda is the last still-teaching direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda-the world famous spiritual leader and author of Autobiography of a Yogi-widely credited with bringing meditation and yoga to the West. The book chronicles Kriyananda’s experience as a devoted follower of his guru during the last three and one-half years of Yogananda’s life.

“I am truly honored by the selection of The New Path: My Life with Paramhansa Yogananda as the top book spiritual book of the year by both of these organizations,” said Swami Kriyananda. “It only shows how vital Yogananda’s message is today as it was when I was with him 60 years ago. I am thrilled that this resonates with his power and love, and that I can be the conduit so other’s may know him today.”

The Best Books of 2010 competition is sponsored by USABookNews.com, the premiere online magazine and review website for mainstream and independent publishing houses. This year the program attracted a record number of 500 submissions. The judges had this to say about The New Path: My Life with Paramhansa Yogananda:

“Swami Kriyananda is an extraordinary narrator: He recreates the vibrancy of his guru’s presence, remembers Yogananda’s words with perfect clarity, and communicates to the reader the depth of their meaning. Through Kriyananda’s eyes and words, you’ll be transported into Yogananda’s immediate presence as you learn the highest yogic teachings.

“The New Path provides a marvelous sequel to Paramhansa Yogananda’s own Autobiography of a Yogi, helping you to gain a more profound understanding of this great world teacher. Through hundreds of stories of life with Yogananda and through Swami Kriyananda’s invaluable insights, you’ll discover the inner path that leads to soul-freedom and lasting happiness.”
