Capitol Hell, Midwest Book Awards Finalist in Two Categories

Capitol Hell by Jayne Jones and Alicia Long is a finalist in two of the Awards’ categories: ‘Fiction (Contemporary) Book of the Year’ and ‘Humor Book of the Year’ for the 23rd Annual Midwest Book Awards. The Midwest Independent Publishers’ Association (MIPA) will announce the winners during the Midwest Book Awards Gala on May 8, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Center for the Arts.

Capitol Hell is a fictional novel based on the real experience of two former young staffers working on Capitol Hill. The novel mixes real-life scenarios and exaggerates them to create a brilliant and funny story about what goes on behind the close doors of Washington. The novel’s popularity keeps increasing. Saturday, April 21 Jones and Long were the first authors to sell out at the Southern Kentucky Book Fest.

MIPA serves the Midwest publishing community through publishing, production, promotion and marketing. Their Midwest Book Awards recognizes novels in 44 different categories. Winners will be announced at the Midwest Book Awards Gala, after judges’ vote for the best novels.

Jayne Jones and Alicia Long Jayne Jones and Alicia Long, co-authors of Capitol Hell began their political careers working for former Senator Norm Coleman (MN) as staffers in both his St. Paul, MN and Washington, D.C. offices. Fast friends, the two stuck together through thick and thin, recently joining forces to write a novel about life as a Capitol Hill staffer.
