While I am a big fan of social networking, Facebook has just announced it is adding facial recognition to its toolbox.
The social network is going to try to link all faces across its many user’s pages together.
Why is that a problem?
Well, for me, it is of no concern, but what if someone is looking for you with bad intentions or at least what YOU consider bad intentions for you personally??
Consider the implications if your face on your own site under any name or anyone else’s sites is linked.
That would provide a powerful tool to finding people anyplace in the world!!
Worse yet, this appears to be an opt-out feature; that is, all photos on all sites will be subject to facial recognition unless that page owner specifically tells Facebook NOT to include their photos.
