Though he brings justice on the streets of Gotham City, Christian Bale is on the other side of the law. The 34-year-old actor was arrested Sunday night for allegedly assaulting both his 61-year-old mother Jenny and his 40-year-old sister Sharon.
Bale’s attorneys from the prominent London firm Schillings gave a statement for their client:
“Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will no further comment by Mr. Bale.”
Bale, who reprises as Batman in The Dark Knight, was arrested earlier today after turning himself in voluntarily. There are no reports yet on the incident, but British media has stated that Bale’s mother and sister complained he assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel. Both women each filed a complaint the next morning.
The case was then over by Scotland Land, but authorities let Bale attend last night’s European premiere before being asked to turn himself in.
A woman believed to be Bale’s sister said to reporters “it’s a family matter” from her home in Corfe Mullen, 110 miles southwest of London. A man who answered the door at the home of Bale’s mother also stated that no comment has been made from her.
One of Bale’s attorneys, Simon Smith, recently told E! News that his client will make his next appearance to promote The Dark Knight at the Spain premiere.
“I believe he is headed to Barcelona this evening” he said.
