A Chance to Give Back by Helping Others who are Down and Out

This is the time of the year that we celebrate all that is wonderful in our lives. We celebrate life and all that is part of it. We laugh and drink over huge meals that we eat with friends and family. We give and receive gifts. And we plan for the upcoming year.

I know that I have a lot to be personally thankful for and I am anxious to roll into 2008 because the future looks so bright.

But there are some people who wonder how they will get through the holiday season. They face cold, dark nights without shelter, food and clothes. What is a happy time for most of us is just another miserable time of the year for them.

This is the most important time of the year to share what we have with others and I would like to share with you one of the causes that I support.

My longtime friend and colleague, Jay G0ldinger, has dedicated himself to helping the homeless community in Los Angeles to get back on its feet so that the individuals who find themselves in this precarious situation can work their way back into society and live normal and productive lives. His gargantuan efforts have produced extraordinary results.

Here is a quick summary of what Jay does.

In 1996 Jay G0ldinger had a dream that every homeless individual in America should have an opportunity to gain employment and housing. 615 consecutive weeks later and using food as the hook, he created a most unique nonprofit that gives the homeless the hope and self confidence needed to leave the streets forever. Every Sunday, Food on Foot www.foodonfoot.org provides the homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and self-sufficiency.

Now, here is how I would like you to help. Jay has set up the Foot on Foot program as a public charity. His organization has been entered in a contest and the group that raises the most money – with the widest participation (meaning the most number of givers of at least $10) will receive a matching gift from Yahoo.

For this reason, I would like you to go to the web site below and help Jay to help the homeless at this most important time of the year. Your $10 (or more) donation, could be the one that tips the scales in Jay’s favor – but it has to be done before December 31, 2007. Please do this right now.

Thank you for being a loyal reader and fan of my blog. I really appreciate the notes, posts and support that we continuously receive from you. Be healthy and smart as we enter 2008. And start the year by feeling good and doing good with at least a small donation to Jay’s Food on Foot program.

Thank you so much for your continuing support.
