A review of cooperation from the International Space Station (ISS) is being held today, when the leaders of agencies from Canada, Europe, Japan, Russia, and the United States come together at the European Space Agency (ESA) in Paris. They will talk about ways to improve the quality of life on Earth by increasing the frontiers of human knowledge.
The ISS leaders have looked over the current development of the Agency, configuration and operation activities across the partnership. They considered applying plans in boosting benefits from the increase to a six-person crew next year and talk about efforts to make sure that essential space transportation capabilities for both crew and cargo will be available across the partnership for the sake of the program.
The leaders revealed the desire for more Russian modules to be given both next year and 2010 that will increase six-person ISS operations and utilization. They also talked about their respective ongoing activities to increase upmass and downmass transportation capabilities required for a robust utilization of the ISS and for preparing capabilities for the future. The leaders stated their interest in making these capabilities ready for the benefit of the entire partnership and can give sustainability of the ISS and prepare for future exploration endeavors.
All of the ISS leaders around the world said that ongoing operations beyond 2015 wouldn’t be precluded by any important technical challenges — working for the purpose of a common goal on behalf of their respective governments.
