Pasta Galore At ‘Pasta Factory’

Pasta, pasta is a good for you at The Pasta Factory. Amber Nunez, the General Manager smiles as I sing that to her. Well, what can I say about dining in one of Marina Del Rey’s fun spots. According to Amber, the restaurant was first created by Alejo Castro and his partner Carlos Macchi 14 years ago.

Alejo, who had other restaurants, has since passed, but his recipes continue to bring happiness to locals and tourist alike. Romero Chavez, the head chef at Pasta Factory, loves throwing the pizza and creating good tasting dishes. Their pizzas are big and a big part of their business.

We started our dining journey to Italy. Beginning with the appetizers, we ordered Bruschetta Al Pomodoro, consisting of chopped tomatoes, basil and garlic on toasted Ciabattabread. We also ordered a Classic Caesar Salad with chicken and shrimp.

This is a great way to splurge, for an extra $7.00. For the main entrees however, I suggest the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Veal Marsala. Wow, both dishes are filling. The veal is pounded then sauteed with Marsala wine, garlic and fresh mushrooms. The Eggplant Parmigiana is layered eggplant topped with marinara and soft mozzarella, served with a side of pasta. As the saying goes, “It’s all in the sauce,” which is a big part of the taste in Italian cuisine. But wait, if you don’t watch the bread, which is baked daily at Pasta Factory, you’ll fill your tummies up and will have to take the rest of your dinner home. So, easy on the bread.
