Crossing The Borders Of Time: NY Times investigative reporter turned biographer Leslie Maitland phones in to Arts Express from DC to recount in her dramatic memoir, her mother’s escape from the Holocaust and the lover she left behind, but never forgot. Maitland also describes working her way out of the Styles section of the paper to cover the often dangerous stories that were a male domain back then. And what it all has to do with glass ceilings, Rubin Hurricane Carter, Abscam, Looking For Mr. Goodbar, and a noirish espionage rendezvous under the 59th Street Bridge.
