Book Review: Let Go to Grow: Why Some Businesses Thrive and Others Fail

‘Let Go to Grow: Why Some Businesses Thrive & Others Fail to Reach Their Potential’ By Doug & Polly White

In harsh economic times such as these, it benefits any company to take a look at itself. What are businesses doing right, wrong, or not at all? What allows one company to stay afloat while another hits rock bottom?

‘Let Go to Grow’ takes a fresh look at these questions & provides logical steps to answer them. Written clearly & concisely, The Whites provide a yellow brick road to success.

At many times throughout this book, I thought back to my days of retail management, and wondered why I was never given these tools. Many business decisions I made would have drastically benefitted from their advice.

The book is divided into four parts. Each part deals with different aspects. It’s quite obvious from page one, that The Whites have done quite a lot of research. But, more importantly, they’ve done it very well. They walk the reader through such steps as goal setting, planning, & making adjustments. What you won’t find are improbabilities or outlandish promises. No pitches, gimmicks or schemes are given either. What you’ll find instead is, plain speak & ethical hard work. Steps are laid out. The path is made clear.

While any business owner, no matter the business’s size, would walk away with new knowledge, I’d go a step further by saying that anyone in management (entry level & beyond) should read this as well. It is mentioned in the book that all employees should have personal goals aside from the company’s. I wholeheartedly agree. Personal goals can definitely give a company an edge.

‘Let Go to Grow’ should be utilized in business classes as well as (any level) management courses. Everyone benefits from the White’s willingness to share their wisdom & life experiences. It contains many ‘AHA!’ moments. I personally learned a great deal.

‘Let Go to Grow’ easily earns a 5 of 5 stars for being informative, but not overwhelming, intelligent without condescension, & helpful without feeling like a textbook.

I was provided with 1 PDF copy of the book for review purposes. I was under no obligation to write a positive review or any review at all. No other compensation was provided. My views are my own.
