Court Issues ‘Arrest Warrant’ Against Dead Militant

The TADA court has issued an “arrest warrant” on Wednesday, against a militant who was killed in Assam.

A former United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) rebel Dhruba Jyoti Talukdar, who was allegedly killed by his driver and partner on 27th of March in Guwahati was found dead from a hill area near Sonapur, some 25 kms from Guwahati on April 10.

But the designated TADA court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on Wednesday in the murder case of Giridharilal Harlalka, where Dhruba Jyoti Talukdar was a prime suspect.

The court issued an arrest warrant against Dhruba Jyoti Talukdar, who was absent during trial.

Apart from Dhruba Jyoti Talukdar, other accused in the case were ULFA chairman Arobinda Rajkhowa, vice-chairman Pradip Gogoi and former leader Munin Nabis.

Former President of Kamrup Chamber of Commerce, Giridharila Harlalka was killed by the ULFA militants on 15th of October 1988 in Guwahati.

The court asked the city police to file a status report of Dhruba Jyoti Talukdar before court on the next hearing date of the case on April 25.
