The holy month of Ramadan which includes 30 days of fasting begins today across India and throughout the Muslim world.
“The new moon was observed last night and followers of the Muslim faith across India will begin fasting on Tuesday,” Mufti Mukarram, Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Fatehpuri Mosque told NewsBlaze.

Last Night Muslims in India flocked to Mosques Monday night to offer Tarawih (special evening prayers), after the new moon was sighted.
Muslims across the globe observe fast from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadan. It begins in the ninth month of the Muslim lunar calendar; this cannot be more than 30 days.
The top Muslim Authorities in Delhi met yesterday evening, announced the new moon has been sighted and the 30 day Ramadan month will start on Tuesday.
Muslims fast for the sake of God (Allah) and to offer more prayer than usual. Compared to the solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving backwards by about eleven days each year depending on the moon; thus, a person will have fasted every day of the calendar year in 34 years time.
Muslims believe Ramadan to be an auspicious month for the revelations of God (Allah) to humankind, being the month in which the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to the Islamic prophet, Muhammad (S.A.W).
Holy Month Ramadan Start
The people in the south of India (Kerala) already started fasting from Monday.
Pertinently, In Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar and the US – the holy month Ramadan started on Monday, while in India and Pakistan it is observed starting today.
Eid will be celebrated at the conclusion of the month.
