Chris Evans Returns to Fight as ‘Captain America’

Chris Evans returns to fight the good fight – this time, as Captain America: The First Avenger. The actor first became a big-screen summer superhero back in 2005 as devil-may-care Johnny Evans, aka the Human Torch of The Fantastic Four, and reprises the role for the 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Two decades after his disappointing debut, Captain America gets a second chance to serve well on the big screen with Evans in the titular role, who becomes the world’s first super-soldier, as he fights for freedom, liberty, and honor against his nemesis, the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

Like Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, and the upcoming Thor coming out on May 6, the film would be tied in with The Avengers, which is set to come out May 4, 2012. People got a sneak preview of it with a 30-second trailer that aired on Super Bowl Sunday.

Captain America: The First Avenger debuts July 22.

Meanwhile, catch Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, and other Marvel superheroes unite as The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on Disney XD.
