Actress Brittany Murphy’s Death Officially Deemed Accidental

Actress Brittany Murphy’s death has been ruled as accidental by the L.A. county coroner, according to the L.A. Times.

The actress went into cardiac arrest at her home in the Hollywood Hills 8 AM on December 20. She was pronounced dead two hours later.

The official ruling from the coroner is “pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anemia and multiple drug intoxication.” An autopsy report hasn’t been published yet, and will be available in two weeks. Drug intake was said to be what caused the cardiac arrest.

Simon Monjack, her late husband, plans to sue Warner Brothers in the wake of her death. He claims that her condition was brought on by stress the company put on her after canceling her contract to do a voice in the sequel of “Happy Feet.” She had been fired from the set of another movie the month before.

According to the UK Telegraph, Warner Brothers says they never even entered a deal with Murphy, and that there was no contract to cancel.

A spokesman for the company said “Any claim that Warner Bros was somehow responsible for [her] tragic death is demonstrably false and reprehensible.”
