Government Will Be To Blame for Open Borders Swine Flu Deaths

Familiar Pattern

The first recorded death from the Mexican Swine Flu pandemic in America was a toddler from Mexico City who died in Houston. How the family entered Texas has not been made official yet. What is known is that the toddler and his family visited a congested Houston Shopping Mall the day before showing full symptoms.

How many more infected Mexican aliens are now in the country unbeknown to the government? Has the government´s willful dereliction in securing our borders for decades be to blame for the spread of the deadly virus?

Whether it is (1) terrorism, (2) a wounded drug addicted nation, (3) the cross Border bloody Mexican drug war, (4) human and arms trafficking; or now (5) the Mexican Swine Flu pandemic, at the highest level of our government no stone is left un-turned and no dollars remains un-spent – except if it involves securing the border.

President Obama is no different from former President Bush in this respect. Obama has asked Congress for $1.5 billion to fight the spread of the virus, but has made it clear through his DHS Secretary that securing the Border is not on the table.

How is this for contradiction? On Monday, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico barred entry to its perimeter, effectively erecting a secure border, while President Obama, by keeping the Southern Border open, denies the same level of protection for the American people.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) and Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) broke rank with the Obama Administration and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and demand that President Obama secure the Border immediately.

“The public needs to be aware of the serious threat of swine flu, and we need to close our borders to Mexico immediately and completely until this is resolved,” Massa said in a statement.” Rep. Massa continued, “I am making this announcement because I see this as a serious threat to the health of the American public and I do not believe this issue is receiving the attention it needs to have in the news.”

The battle for containing the spread of the pandemic is not free of political consideration. At 8:25 AM this morning Border Patrol agents contacted Congressman Duncan Hunter (CA-Dist. 51) to report that their supervisors had order them to take off their protective masks. The agents bemoan that their safety is being compromised to meet the government´s public relations objectives.

In contrast, 750 sheriff deputies in Phoenix, a city with a dense foreign population of mostly Mexican nationals, will don masks, gloves and other safety equipment for their protection against the spread of the virus.

Is Containment Possible?

Viruses can mutate from animal to human-transmitted versions anywhere in the world. The current pandemic Swine Flu originates in Mexico. It is fanning out from Mexico City to the Border States and beyond at the speed of car and air travel. A two hour flight can bring a passenger from Mexico back to a job caring for the children in a home, school or into the kitchen of a restaurant in the United States.

The deadly virus from Mexico is transmitted person to person. The virus is transmitted by breathing the same air, for example through coughing, sneezing, talking; and it can also be transmitted by exchanging body fluid by touch for example saliva found on the hands.

This is a new virus mutant that contains genetic material from birds, pigs and humans. Because the topology of this new strain is possibly unknown by the human immune system, it is deadly and can affect very large numbers of people. The Spanish influenza strain, a new strain in its day, killed 50 million people in 1918, mostly in Europe.

The existing influenza vaccines such as Tamiflu and Relenza are reported to reduce the symptom and possibly save lives. Most people who now hold a doctor´s prescription for it are unable to find it in pharmacies. New targeted vaccines against this strain will take at least 6 months to develop.

Some Americans may have been exposed to a previous virus whose topology shares something in common with the latest strain and this natural defense may keep some Americans from experiencing the full symptoms and death. Time will tell.

In San Diego a newspaper subscriber asked the paper’s management if they were screening their wrappers and delivery crews, many of whom are low paid Mexican nationals that make the daily commute and others are non-immigrant aliens entrenched in Southern California. These Mexican workers are more likely to have contact with infected individuals South of the border and with new arrivals from Mexico.

The subscriber was worried that the virus could be delivered into their San Diego home piggy back on the newspaper or the wrapper. The Los Angeles Times and other Border state journals also employ cheap labor to wrap and deliver their papers into homes in the United State. The San Diego resident said she will either stop the subscription temporarily or just let the papers sit on the driveway until she feels safe to dispose of them. We will know more about just how contagious this virus is as times passes.

Hundreds of thousands of homes in America employ cheap labor housekeepers and nannies many of them aliens from Mexico. These aliens, many of whom do not speak English fluently, live in communities where travelers to and from Mexico gather in congested public places, use public transportation and shop. The Center of Decease Control (CDC) advises against visiting crowded public places where exposure to infected persons is possible.

Swine Flu Caution for children, young adults, students

Take note of measures taken in Mexico where the pandemic originated. The Mexican government has closed all schools until further notice. All restaurants in Mexico City have closed and so have many Government buildings. The U.S. Center for Decease Control (CDC) has issued a travel advisory against travel to Mexico as of today.

Far from the Border, Saint Francis Preparatory School in New York is closed due to infections after students returned from Spring Break in Mexico. The first case reported in Europe was a Spanish student returning from a trip to Mexico and now 8 are diagnosed. In New Zealand 13 are suspected and 6 in Canada. Two are suspected in France and Israel. Russia, Hong Kong and Taiwan said they would quarantine visitors showing symptoms of the virus. There are a growing number of countries banning travel to and from Mexico until more is known about the pandemic.

Air travel to Mexico is coming to a halt. Cuba, Argentina, South Korea, Singapore, France and soon many European Union states will suspend flights to Mexico.

Major cruise companies such as Royal Caribbean, Carnival and the Norwegian Cruise Line, who every day transport thousands of holiday makers around the Caribbean, announced they have halted visits to Mexican ports.

Most European tour operators, such as Thomas Cook, Thomson Travel and TUI, have halted flights to Mexico over the swine flu outbreak.

Keeping children safe

Parents should use common sense in cases where:

    • Children and students attend schools where janitorial staff and other personnel are known to travel to and from Mexico or who have contact with travelers to and from Mexico.
    • Students planning to travel to and from Mexico at this time (CDC strongly advises against it)
  • Children cared by nannies and housekeepers that travel to and from Mexico or who may have contact with travelers to and from Mexico

In Mexico City, the epicenter for the pandemic, 2000 have been infected and 200 have died in the span of three days. The number of death in Mexico is currently looked at again for certainty. There have been 60 cases diagnosed in the United States so far and one death in Los Angeles. California, New York and Texas have declared states of emergency.

For many years our elected representatives have neglected Border security. The neglect may cost us dearly on the face of this pandemic.

Janet Napolitano, the recent Barack Obama appointee to Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, was the former Governor of Arizona. Under her administration millions of aliens including dangerous drug, arms and human traffickers violated the United States border causing incalculable human suffering. It is also well documented that many dangerous aliens from countries that harbor terrorism are crossing into the United States through Arizona after first landing in Mexico. The going fee for smuggling aliens from countries harboring terrorism is $20,000 and up. The steep price points to a motive other than to escape poverty.

Millions of harmful aliens with ties to the criminal cartels that are responsible for about 8000 brutal murders along the border in 2008 and over 1000 so far in 2009, were allowed to reside in Arizona without fear of prosecution or deportation because then Governor Janet Napolitano and the current governor Jan Brewer, refuse to collaborate with the federal government in enforcing immigration laws.

The entire state of California under Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has become what is known as a Sanctuary State, a state where non-immigrant aliens are welcomed and protected against federal immigration laws. This policy contributes to a $50 billion state budget deficit that is about to bankrupt the state.

Janet Napolitano, as the new Secretary of DHS has kept in place the same Open Borders policy of her predecessor Michael Chertoff under President Bush.

Ninety percent of heroin, amphetamines and marijuana that harm millions of families, cause accident, contribute to decease and enslaves our children are sent over the Mexican border mainly the Arizona border. Unfortunately for Americans, our elected representatives receive millions of dollars from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Essential Workers Alliance, trans-national corporate interest and employers of illegal foreign workers to ensure that our Southern Borders are kept open, regardless the cost to taxpayers and the risks. Drugs enter the U.S. largely on the backs of aliens who violate our borders and later they are distributed by criminal gangs of aliens from Mexico and Central America that fester in every village, town and city in America. These criminals should be deported but they are not.

Ambulances in Mexico are refusing to take people suspected of infection and those unfortunate sufferers that make it to hospitals on their own are being turned away by the hospital personnel fearing for their own lives. Federal law prohibits refusing medical care at emergency hospital to any individual regardless of their nationality or immigration status. Some Mexican citizens in border town benefit by crossing the border for medical care. Being a generous and humanitarian nation American hospitals will be taking in sufferers refused service in Mexico.

Passive Surveillance

We now depend on Janet Napolitano and a cadre of Open Borders elected representatives to protect us from a pandemic arriving at our Southern Border. As it was the case with the War on Terror, the government will consider all possibilities and spend un-Godly sums of money, so long as it does not stop the flow of cheap labor from South of the Border.
As of a few hours ago DHS started observing travelers arriving from Mexico at airports and border check points if they show signs of flu. The government calls it “Passive Surveillance.”

Passive Surveillance is ineffective against asymptomatic infected persons.

There are two huge holes with this measure. The first is that the DHS travel advisory only works in one direction – from the United States to Mexico but Mexican are not prevented from entering the United States from Mexico. The second hole, or the elephant in the room, is the 3000 to 4000 that cross the Southern Border illegally bypassing the check points and airports.

Keep in mind that DHS has allowed millions with tuberculosis, hepatitis and many other dangerous deceases such as the plague, to sneak into the country by the millions under the Bush and now the Obama administration – by refusing to secure the borders.

Just before the 2006 Presidential election the Senate and the House voted to build a fence along the entire Southern Border. In my home state of California, Senators Boxer and Feinstein; and Congressman Henry Waxman, all three Democrats, voted for the fence. The President signed it into law. After great bi-partisan fanfare before the election, after the election the Democrat Controlled Congress refused to fund the fence. Cries from the citizens asking, “Where is the fence?” remain unanswered.

We are in the hands of our elected representatives and appointees such as Janet Napolitano. Let’s demand that they put aside their self-interest and protect us from this pandemic. When this crisis is over, they are under a moral obligation to build the Border fence that was approved; and of securing our Borders. The immigration laws that our Congress has itself approved must be honored and enforced. The penalty for illegal presence in the United States is deportation, anything else is Amnesty. Amnesty for those who are here illegally and who have caused so much harm and expense must never be approved – never.

Today the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the alarm level to 5 out of 6 declaring we are well on our way to a full spread pandemic.

This is a very serious health crisis. The government must secure the full length of the Border immediately or it will be seen as being responsible for any Open Borders related deaths.

If the pandemic spreads worldwide, containment within Mexico or the United States will no longer be practical; instead it will be a matter of being able to provide medical attention of all those infected around the world.

Follow these flu prevention tips:

    • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
    • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick with flu, it is recommended that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way

Globalization pressures, the Cheap Labor lobby Open Borders agenda and the prospect of swelling Democrat Party voter registration with millions of new members is eroding confidence in the government’s actions against the Swine Flu pandemic.
