Amy Winehouse, 24-Year-Old Grammy-Winning Soul Singer Has Emphysema

By Garrett Godwin

A week after being hospitalized for collapsing inside her London home, it has been revealed by Amy Winehouse's father that the talented yet troubled 24-year-old Grammy-winning soul singer has emphysema.

Yesterday, Mitch Winehouse told Britain's Daily Mail that his daughter's drug habits and unhealthy lifestyle are the main factors behind the lung disease, which is irreversible -- becoming even more harder for her to breathe.

"With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes", he said, "Her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She's got 70 percent lung capacity".

Winehouse went on to state that the doctors warned Amy that continuing the way she has will lead to a wheelchair confinement and she'll be forced to wear an oxygen mask permanently.

"If she goes back smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice", he continued, "It will kill her". Winehouse pleaded that the drug dealers that are "supplying crack to Amy" to "take responsibility" for what has happened to his daughter.

Though her emphysema is in the early stages, Mitch Winehouse hopes that this will force his daughter to get help and stay sober. "I've started to see my old Amy back" he said. "We'll just have to see how great her resolution is".
