US Slams UN Expert’s Anti-Israel Report

The United States of America has slammed the latest report by Mr. Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories.

Reports say the UN expert called for a boycott of private companies accused of profiting from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

In her remarks at Washington DC, Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations says throughout his tenure as Special Rapporteur, Mr. Falk has been highly biased and made offensive statements, including outrageous comments on the 9/11 attacks.

Ms. Rice says Mr. Falk’s reports are “irresponsible and unacceptable.”

“Mr. Falk’s recommendations do nothing to further a peaceful settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and indeed poison the environment for peace.” -Ms. Rice

Ms. Rice says Mr. Falk’s continued service in the role of a UN Special Rapporteur is deeply regrettable and only damages the credibility of the UN.

Reports say the US delegates have repeatedly clashed with Falk over his alleged anti-Israeli comments.

In January 2011, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Susan E. Rice strongly condemned Mr. Richard Falk’s blog post against United States as deeply offensive and despicable.

In Mr. Falk’s blog post, dated January 11, 2011, he endorses the slurs of conspiracy theorists who allege that the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were perpetrated and then covered up by the U.S. government and media.

Ms. Rice had condemned Mr. Falk’s comments as despicable and deeply offensive.

The United States has in the past been critical of Mr. Falk’s one-sided and politicized approach to his work for the UN.

The United States is deeply committed to the cause of human rights and believes that cause will be better advanced without Mr. Falk and the distasteful sideshow he has chosen to create.
