Are Winds of Antisemitism Blowing Strong Around The World?

Antisemitism is hatred toward, or discrimination against Jews for reasons connected to their Jewish heritage. A person who holds such views is called an antisemite. Antisemitism may be manifested in many ways, ranging from expressions of hatred of or discrimination against Jews to organized violent attacks on individuals or the entire Jewish community.

Extreme instances of persecution of Jews include the Pogroms, which preceded the First Crusade in 1096, the expulsion of Jews from England, in 1290, the massacres of Spanish Jews in 1391, the persecutions of the Jews by the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of Jews from Spain, in 1492, the expulsion of Jews from Portugal, in 1497, various Russian pogroms, the Dreyfus Affair, and Hitler’s Germany Final Solution for the Jews and its result the Holocaust and official Soviet Union anti-Jews policies.

The term antisemitism was coined in the late 19th century, in Germany, as a more scientific-sounding term for Judenhass (“Jew-hatred”), and that has been its common use even since then.

Antisemitism is simply the hate of Jews and all that is Jewish and that includes hating and targeting the modern nation state of the Jewish people, Israel.

The winds of antisemitism are blowing in particularly strong from and in Europe. The European continent that had long ago taken the lead of leads in antisemitic behavior is leading this treacherous ‘movement’ again. There, heads of state and the people on the street have reverted to systematic antisemitic slurs and conduct. And now with the growing European-Moslem communities, who, by nature and gene are antisemitic, it appears as if the Europeans have practically imported antisemitic aides to help them in their old age racist and bigoted practice. As of recent, in France, a European Moslem gunman, on a motorcycle, killed a rabbi, his two sons and another little girl only because they were Jews.

The Europeans’ antisemitic practices are manifested in verbal and physical attacks on Jews and vandalizing their properties and even graveyards, painting Nazi swastika images on property, headstones, walls and gates.

As for the practice of antisemitism that targets the State of Israel, it is manifested in political and diplomatic bias, treating the Jewish state as a pariah and expecting her to act according to standards no other country would abide by; also excluding cooperation with Israel wherever and whenever possible leaving Israel with no option but to have to make extra unnecessary efforts to be welcome among nations. More so, the Europeans formed all kind of NGOs, mostly funded by European governments so they can conceal their open antisemitic sentiments and practice them behind these organizations, that use a gamut of activities against Israel.

These groups organize protests against the Jewish state in which many Moslems participate; they burn the national flag of the state of Israel and call for her destruction. They invented the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions-BDS movement its goal is to damage the Jewish State’s economy and they organize flotillas and flytillas as a mean to attack and disrupt Israel’s right to defend itself and hamper her sovereignty. In summation, they diligently demonize and delegitimize Israel, using any mean available to them and can be invented.

The antisemitism has spread to academia where professors vilify Israel and Jewish students are singled out in any way possible just because they are Jewish.

The media has not been sitting idle either and it is constantly publishing biased and bigot articles about Israel. The leading media outlets of bias against Jews and Israel are the BBC, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Scandinavia printed media and the big screen. Unfortunately this list goes way longer.

With the state of Israel being the target of collective antisemitism, the antisemites camouflage their antisemitic sentiments under the guise of anti-Zionism, which is is no more, nor less, than the self-determination of the Jewish people – as a people, and not just as adherents of the Jewish religion. Jews are in fact the only people – as a people – for whom Israel, ancient Judea and Samaria, was ever their national homeland. Those who deny Zionism, thus deny Jewish peoplehood and the fundamental right of Jews to live as a people in their own ancestral homeland, Israel.

The antisemitc world has not come to grip with the idea that Jews now have a sovereign state and can defend themselves and thus cannot be bullied, at least not when they live in the sovereign Jewish state, Israel. A growing number of people in the world believe that the creation of the state of Israel was a mistake that requires correction, which is dismantling the Jewish state.

The world has developed a voracious need for oil and the Arab- Moslem states own much of the world’s stock of this desired black gold liquid. Islam is an antisemitic religion-ideology and the Arab-Moslem states are the inherent enemy of the state of Israel. The combination of westerners’ embedded antisemitism, their nation states’ crude oil consumption needs, and thus the dependability on supply from the oil producing Arab-Moslem antisemitic states, has created a lethal cooperation its fundamental basis is well greased by antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments.

Then there is the United Nations Organization-UN, which is the most virulent antisemitic organization on earth, its main target is one of its state member, Israel. If there was no Israel, the UN countries’ envoys would be scratching their heads for they would have less than half of work cut out for them, which is passing resolution after resolution condemning Israel while the world is falling apart in front of their eyes.

Last, but not least, is the Jews and Israelis who undermine the Jewish people and their state, Israel. What makes a Jew self hating and an enemy of his or her own homeland is an enigma yet to be solved.

Last night I attended the Los Angeles premier of the documentary movie Unmasked Judeophobia, the threat to civilization, produced and directed by Gloria Z. Greenfield, President of Doc Emet Productions, Inc: Unmasked: Judeophobia trailer:

Apart from being an excellent reportage on antisemitism, presented by a long line of pundits, it is an AWAKENING documentary to all those who are still asleep at the wheel, preferring to ignore that antisemitism is out of its hideaway and is ready to attack and is attacking Jews and all that is Jewish.

The documentary opens with the words of Elie Wiesel, the Romanian-born Jewish-American Holocaust survivor writer, professor, political activist and Nobel Laureate: “Since 1945 I was not as afraid as I am now; I am afraid because antisemitism, which I have thought belonged to the past, somehow survived. I was convinced in 1945 that antisemitism died with the Jewish victims in Auschwitz and Treblinka. And now, I see, no, the Jews perished but antisemitism in some parts of the world is flourishing. What is it about that plague of humanity that is so strong, so resistant that it survives everything else? Antisemitism is hatred and hatred is contagious; it usually goes like cancer, from cell to cell, from limb to limb, from person to person, from group to group, from culture to culture.”

The Holocaust was a result of the Nazis’ goal, which was to rid the world of all Jews. After Germany was brought to its submission, there was a hope among Jews that this vile practice against them had come to a bitter end when a third of the Jewish population of the world was killed by the most brutal Nazi-German methods. But that hope was short lived. For the first thirty some years after the systematic butchery of the Jews, during WWII, antisemitism went into hiding. The world wanted to take the spot light off its complicity in Hitler’s Final Solution plan and in many countries any act of hate towards Jews became a felony. But that was short lived and as William E. Grim wrote in his essay several years ago about Germany of all countries: ‘The return of anti-Semitism to Germany, it never really left’ – .

So when it comes to antisemitism almost nothing is new under the sun. What has changed is the founding of the state of Israel. Where, in the past antisemitic behavior was directed against individual Jews or Jewish communities, such as the Kishinev massacre of Jews in Russia, since 1948 the Jews have given the world a new Jewish target to hate, which is the Jewish state of Israel.

History attests that Jews who were in the medical profession invented cures for diseases that took the lives of millions in the world. For one was Jonas Salk who created the first effective Polio Vaccine; then Albert Sabin who developed the oral vaccine for Polio; Selman Waksman, who discovered the Streptomycin and coined the word ‘antibiotic’; Baruch Blumberg who discovered origin and spread of infectious diseases and the list goes on. Since its establishment many of Israel’s medical research teams have discovered and invented effective methods to cure or bring to a halt many diseases from which millions in the world still suffers. All that has save and improved the lives of many. But antisemitism is an old age disease that millions in the world suffer from and there is no cure for it in sight. Since it is an obsessive lethal emotional disease, expressed in the hate of Jews, we cannot expect that a Jew will find a cure for it. The cure must come from the people who harbor this hate for Jews for no rhyme and reason but for the sake of hating Jews.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German theologian Lutheran pastor and anti-Nazi. He became known for his resistance against the Nazi dictatorship who strongly opposed Hitler’s euthanasia programs and the genocide against the Jews. He was also involved in plans by members of the Abwehr-the German Military Intelligence Office, to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Bonhoeffer was arrested in April 1943 by the Gestapo and executed by hanging in April 1945, 23 days before the Nazis’ surrender.

Unless a Jew finds a cure for this hatred for Jews, which is very unlikely, it is upon us, Jews, to awaken the consciousness of the entire world because ‘Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.’-Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

No other piece of land has ever suffered so much as the Land of Israel. It has seen very little peace times and much wars. After the Second Temple was destroyed in 70AD, by the Romans, and the Jews were expelled from their land, the land where the Kingdom of Judea once stood, has gone through a slew of conquerors’ hands, turned into desolated barren land. At the end, in 1948, against all odds, the third Jewish commonwealth was declared and the Jewish state, Israel, began its journey as a nation among all other nations. No matter how many wars and how much disruptions of growth it has suffered and is still sufferance, from the world in general and its surrounding enemies in particular, the Jews, now called Israelis, in short 64 years of having a homeland have made their state a miraculous and impressive success; a beacon of hope. There was no looking back only forward and with pride.

No other people in the history of the world have suffered as much as the Jews have and yet they have put that suffering behind them, regrouped and went on with life on the most positive note and as much as the world wants to ignore it, the results show in all aspects of life, worldwide.

All that remains is to pray that somehow antisemitism is vanquished; all that remains to be said is, the Nation of Israel is alive and is vigilant.
