Somali Football Federation “SFF” on Monday announced the fixtures of the country’s schools’ football tournament 2011. A press statement from Somali Football Federation said Monday that for the past two months the SFF and the Somali Students’ Union have been working on the arrangement of a successful schools’ tournament.
On Monday morning officials from Somali Football Federation, the students’ union and schools’ principals conducted their last meeting during which the SFF announced the tourney fixtures.
Somali Football Federation Deputy Secretary General Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud told the meeting that the schools’ tournament has more priority to his federation in terms of grassroots development.
He said the SFF was very grateful to the Somali Students’ Union for its efforts in implementing the schools’ football tournament. He also thanked the schools’ principals for accepting to take part in the tournament despite difficulties in the country.
For his part as the chairman of the Student’s Union Mohamed Abdullahi said this will be the 3rd schools’ soccer tournament jointly held by the SFF and his Union since 2009.
“The continuation of schools’ soccer tournaments shows that the cooperation between Somali Football Federation and the Somali Students’ Union is growing. We hope this tournament will better and more developed than we held last year,” Mohamed Abdullahi noted.
According to the fixtures, the 2011 Somali schools’ football tournament will come to an end on 20th of November with Ma’mur VS Hamar Jajab to play the first much on Thursday 9th of November. The Statement said that only children under 15 years of age are allowed to take part in the competition.
