The citizens of republic of Chad today celebrated their National Day.
US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking in Washington, DC, extended the congratulations of President Obama and the people of the United States, to the people of Republic of Chad on their National Day.
Ms. Clinton stressed that the partnership between U.S. and Chad is rooted in its commitment to helping those in need. She stated that since 2003, Chad has welcomed hundreds of thousands of refugees at a difficult time in its own history.
“Today, we celebrate your hospitality but continue to work toward a day when these refugees can peacefully and voluntarily return to their homes.” -Ms. Clinton
According to Ms. Clinton, the United States is committed to helping Chad strengthen democratic systems, enforce rule of law, bolster regional stability and security and stand up against terrorists and extremists. She highlighted that the U.S. Government can help Chadians tap into their potential and realize a brighter future.
“As you celebrate this special day with family, friends and loved ones, know that the United States is a partner and friend. I wish all Chadians a safe and joyous National Day celebration and look forward to continued peace and prosperity for all of our people.” -Ms. Clinton
